Flower artist Mario Hirama’s calm and refined performance makes us realize the way how we relate with flowers, the vase, and the space. For Hirama, the world of flowers is very serene yet extremely powerful because it stems from a vision that seeks to apprehend the very essence of the beauty of Japanese culture. Hirama constantly considers the true significance of IKERU, which literally means the act of arranging flower, to infuse the flowers with life. His first major overseas performance, a collaborative art works with ceramic artist Akihiro Nikaido at the tea house called Taibei Tea Experience in Taipei, Taiwan in 2015, leading to distinguished projects around the world. He often collaborates with ceramic artists, performs installation arts, and also designs the flower for the stage of opera. Join him at KOSAKA for his tranquil approach to flower and the exciting ventures ahead.
